![]() Personally, I homebrewed Echo Giants Mage like 2-3 seasons before the deck was known to the community. Arguably, there may be even more then you imagine, since the tier of a deck is changed by the popularity of other decks. There usually is a few more S tier (Or T1) decks lying in wait in any given patch, totally undiscovered. S tier Control v Control metas fucking suck, games take forever, and they're incredibly unsatisfying. I never ever want to go back to the Control Warrior meta where me and my opponent sat there for 30+ turns tanking up at eachother to see who dies to fatigue first through our 250 armor, for short 1.5h games of glaring at eachother, unable to play our threats because of Shieldslam and execute. These "shitty tools" people complain about are already pretty effective in an Aggro Meta, and very few people who are pushing for control tools to be better have, imo, actually experienced a control-grinder meta. Honestly, I'm not even sure why the opinion that "Well Control decks should beat." always pops up. Miracle Rogues are usually a hybrid between Combo and Tempo, both of which are generally going to push control away. (People often don't recognize Tempo decks as their own thing and confuse them with Aggro, decks like Face Hunter, Handlock, Cubelock, Big Easy Priest, etc, are all Tempo Decks, and control struggles with these decks because their gameplan is basically "an inevitable victory" on a clock.) Control decks react to your opponents plays, you cannot react to an opponent who plays solitaire for 7 turns before hitting your face for 1000 out of hand.Ĭontrol decks also often struggle to deal with Tempo decks since they're designed to assert dominance over the game-state rather the the Board. As anyone reading this already know, that doesn't happen very often these days.Ĭontrol decks get dunked on by Combo. Then you could save your big healing turn for when your opponent has to spend a turn making clearing your board or drawing more gas. This would be balanced if opponents could run low on resources. The best I can think of is Holy Maki Roll, but that again ends up costing you your entire turn for a big heal. And there are no options outside of Reno Jackson to heal a large amount relative to mana spent (Vampiric Blood in DK is often identical to "gain 10 armor" because of this). It's absurd that other classes get consistent options to deal huge damage to face while drawing and building board, but powerful healing is usually conditional and costs so much you rarely have the mana to impact the board state. Meanwhile control gets premium defensive options like "4 mana lifesteal Fireball that targets only minions" or "put 2 damage life steal dot on enemy board" and hope most of them have 2 hp and/or your opponent doesn't have an aoe attack boost or burn and/or the board isn't mage skeletons and you didn't even manage to heal off your opponent's board. ![]() Resources Fireside Gatherings Related Subreddits Chat (Discord) Sticky Threads & Guides Community Sites Tools Icons made by Daniel Bruce, Freepik, Icomoon, Icon Works, and Bogdan Rosu from are licensed by CC BY 3.0.
